In order to coordinate local resources within electronic arts and new technology, we invited artists, technologists and theorists to give short presentations of current works and projects on 6 April 2002 at BLÆST. There was a mini concert, live video performance, talks and other multimedia presentations.

Part 1 took place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April this year, and was an event with and for local forces. The event took place at Blæst on Saturday with a follow-up on Sunday at TEKS. Each of the presenters was given 15 minutes to introduce their projects and ideas. The presentations were wide ranging, from a performance of the composition "Intra" by Frank Ekeberg to a demonstration of a remote-controlled ball by student Frode Heggelund at the Department of Engineering Cybernetics at NTNU.

The turnout both days exceeded expectations. The participants ranged from 14 to 60 years of age and represented a wide variety of communities. Sunday was allocated to project development. There were new participants this day as well. Different kinds of projects were discussed and new connections were established. The TEKS mailing list "Mekkverk" was given a significant boost.

Trondheim Matchmaking part 1 gave rise to optimism for the Trondheim electronic arts community as well as TEKS' strategy of being a project oriented, easily manoeuvrable media lab with a small administration. Through interdisciplinary connections made in a local network for electronic arts and new technology we see possibilities for new and fruitful constellations.

The project is made possible with support from the Arts Council of Norway and the Production Network for Electronic Arts, PNEK.
